Initial Musculoskeletal Consult for new patients. This appointment type is ideal for the following conditions:
- Neck, Back, and Pelvis pain and injuries
- Hip, knee and ankle pain and injuries
- Shoulder and elbow pain and injuries
- Comprehensive Sports Screening for injury prevention and performance
- Dry Needling
- Individualised Clinical Pilates Home Exercise Program
The initial assessment will thoroughly assess, diagnose and treat your current pain, symptoms or concern. My treatment approach does involve hands on treatment including massage, mobilisations and dry needling. I will help you to understand and better manage your injury through individualised education, exercise, release work and stretching. With over 14 years’ experience, I have extensive knowledge in sports and musculoskeletal injuries and can help you on the road to recovery, working alongside your sports physician where required.
Musculoskeletal Review is ideal if you have been seen for a musculoskeletal appointment in the past six months and require a review of the same condition.
Extended Musculoskeletal Review is ideal if you have not been seen for greater than six months. Also recommended for patients with a complex issue or more than one issue.
Initial Women’s Health (Pelvic Floor) consult for new patients. This appointment type is ideal for patients dealing with the following:
- Pelvic Organ Prolapse
- Urinary Incontinence
- Urinary Frequency/Urgency
- Sexual Pain and Sexual Dysfunction
- Vaginismus, Vulvodynia
- Overactive/Hypertonic/Inability to relax Pelvic Floor
- Pelvic Pain such as Endometriosis
- Constipation
- Fecal Urgency/Incontinence
- Pre/Post Pelvic Surgery
- Coccyx Pain
This consultation is anywhere up to 60 minutes and includes a thorough assessment of bladder, bowel habits and sexual function. This consultation/or a subsequent consultation will generally include an internal pelvic floor examination. This is recommended to assess activation, coordination and integrity of your pelvic floor muscles to give you the most accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Please note that if you do not wish to have an internal examination, that is okay.
An individualised treatment and plan will be made, inclusive of a home exercise program where appropriate to assist you in reaching your goals. Treatment options include, pelvic floor strengthening or down-training, education, bladder retraining, prescription of rehabilitation aids, pessary fitting and lifestyle advice. I will liaise with your GP or specialist where required.
Women’s Health (Pelvic Floor) Extended Review for returning patients if you:
- Haven’t been seen for greater than six months
- Require a vaginal pessary fitting
- Have a complex Women’s Health issue requiring greater time with me
- Have both a women’s health and musculoskeletal complaint ie. Need treatment of both pelvic floor and back
Women’s Health (Pelvic Floor) Review is ideal for current patients that have been seen in the past six months.
Initial Pregnancy Consult is ideal for pregnant women at any time in their pregnancy who are experiencing any musculoskeletal complaints (back pain, pelvic girdle pain), pelvic floor complaints (heaviness, incontinence, non-relaxing pelvic floor) or would simply like to be screened for preventative measures and given general pregnancy, exercise and birth prep advice.
This consult may include the following:
- A detailed obstetric, gynaecological and medical history and a discussion regarding your birth plan
- Pelvic girdle and lumbar spine assessment
- Bladder and bowel health
- Sexual function
- Current exercise guidelines in pregnancy, contraindication and precautions to exercise in pregnancy
- Abdominal separation education and management
- Prolapse education and management
- Internal Pelvic Floor Assessment (after mid-way scan) to determine pelvic floor muscle activation, relaxation and ability to stretch.
- Appropriate and individualised pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation techniques
- Any relevant stretches and release techniques
- Liaise with Obstetrician, Midwife or Doula where required
Please note that if you do not wish to have an internal examination, that is okay.
Birth preparation consult is ideal for pregnant women after 34 weeks pregnant. Preferably you would have been seen sometime after the midway scan for an Initial Pregnancy Consult.
This consult may include the following:
- A detailed obstetric, gynaecological and medical history and a discussion regarding your birth plan
- Internal Pelvic Floor Assessment to determine pelvic floor muscle activation, relaxation and ability to stretch.
- Perineal Massage - I will show you how to do it and what it should feel like
- Ensure effective ability to bear down, which can be used in labour if required
- Labour and birth options and positions
- How to minimise prolonged second stage and perineal tearing
- Early post-natal advice for Caesarean section and Vaginal birth
- Abdominal compression garments
- Opportunity to talk through any concerns
- Liaise with Obstetrician, Midwife or Doula where required
The Initial Post Natal Screening is ideal for patients who have delivered within the past six months (if it has been greater than six months, please book in an Initial Women’s Health Consult. The suggested time for a Post Natal Screening is around six weeks after birth (earlier if grade 3/4 tear).
This appointment type can also be booked for mastitis assessment and treatment.
This consult may include the following:
- A detailed discussion on your pregnancy, labour, birth delivery, and post-natal recovery to date
- Bladder and Bowel Health and appropriate education and treatment plan
- An assessment on your sexual function and discussion on return to sex
- Musculoskeletal assessment of spine and pelvis
- Abdominal separation assessment and management
- An internal examination to assess the strength, endurance and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles, assessment of prolapse and any scar tissue.
- Pelvic floor dysfunction management
- Safe return to exercise protocols and individualised exercise program depending on goals
- Liaise with GP or Obstetrician where required
Post Natal Return to Exercise and Running Consult is designed for those who have already completed an Initial Post Natal Screening.
This consult is designed to do a thorough assessment of pelvic floor strength, pelvic girdle control and overall body strength and control in accordance with the Return to Running Guidelines.
These guidelines have been developed to minimise risk of pelvic floor dysfunction and musculoskeletal injury on return to high impact exercise, running and weights.
